インテリアプランニング研究室の説明
本研究室は「癒やし・もてなし・賑わい」といった人間の感性と行動特性に寄り添うインテリア空間・建築デザインを「都市生活学」として探求しています。また、消費社会・生活環境にセンシティブであり、都市居住デザインや商業空間、公共空間の在り方について、常にデザイン科学の目「インテリアデザイン3.0」で、その評価と向上に寄与しています。インテリアや建築好きの方、ものづくりが心底好きな方、それを実証学的に扱い、自分の強みにしたい方の進学をお待ちしています。研究室は大変大所帯ですが、下図の「インテリアデザイン3.0の知の射程」の研究トピックに連関し、幾つかの研究ユニットを自在かつルーズに組みつつ、楽しくパワフルに展開しています。ゼミは常時解放・見学自由です。保護者同伴・友人同伴も大歓迎です。2023年度は前期・後期とも3,4,5限（13:40-18:30くらい）の間、いつでも来て下さい。途中出入りも自由です。
Our laboratory is exploring interior space and architectural design that is close to human sensibilities and behavioral characteristics such as "healing, hospitality, and liveliness" as "urban life science". Especially in the doctoral program, the main research target is the internal space such as housing, public facilities, station environment, etc., and while correctly sensing various human behaviors there and using mathematical analysis technology such as crowd flow simulation and digital twin environment, From the perspective of design science, we provide research and dissertation guidance that contributes to solving various planning problems. Specific examples include research on the basic design of a canopy bed that maintains a stable sleep effect, and research on the affinity between micro mobility and pedestrian behavior in a station environment. We would love to have admission of everybody.

インテリアデザイン3.0のすすめ
これまでの「インテリアデザイン」は、デザイン系大学・専門学校で「家政学」や「生活デザイン学」として扱われてきており、服飾やアパレル学に親しく並んで輝いていました。また、インテリアデザイナーという言葉のポピュラーさや華々しい印象から、多くの若者が憧れる「なりたい職種」のひとつとして定着しているのも事実です。しかし本当はそれだけではなく、インテリアデザインは、「人間行動学」とセットで考えると非常に興味深い「デザイン科学」であり、奥深く、探求し甲斐のある、「人間空間学」なのです。
東京都市大学のインテリアプランニング研究室は、前身の武蔵工業大学・東横女子短期大学の生活空間デザイン学講座にその源流を持っています。東京・世田谷で建築デザインやインテリアを学びたい学生にとっては、絶好の研究環境であると言えるのですが、従前の国内外のインテリアデザイン教育は、端的に言えばテキストさえあれば誰でも学べる「形式知」の集積であったように感じます。これを我々は、便宜的に「インテリアデザイン1.0」と呼んでいます。本研究室はその先を行きます。
The field of "Interior Design" has been regarded as the one aspect of "Home Economics" or " Human Life and Environment Study" at design colleges in Japan. It was positioned closely to the category of clothing and apparel studies.
An increasing number of students are interested in "Interior Designing " these days because of the the popularity of one of the most aspired occupations, "interior designer".
However, interior design is not just drawing or designing, but it can also be one of the technical/ engineering sciences, "Design Science" if it collaborates with "Human Behavioral Science". Interior design education in Japan and abroad in the past was not professional. It was the accumulation of "formal knowledge", that can be learned just only by going to libraries. We define this primitive field as "Interior Design 1.0". Our laboratory explores beyond that.
「3.0」デザイン・リサーチフィールド
学部の初等教育では、上記の1.0で十分ですが、実際に自らインテリア作品を作ろうとか、建築デザインや照明デザインを提案しようとすると、テキストには書かれていない、その先の暗黙知である「インテリアデザイン2.0」に挑戦しなければならなくなります。この学問ステージは「誰でも」は学べない。それへの挑戦には、日常的にトライアル出来る、いわば「秘密基地」的な環境が必要であると感じます。そこで本研究室では「知のプラットフォーム」として研究室をメンバー開放し「頭は文系、身体は理系」を常に実践してもらっています。
更にその先が「インテリアデザイン3.0」です。これは簡単に言えば、自分の作品や研究を対外的に発表したり、実際のプロジェクトに応用・展開するステージであり、相当な根気と実践力を要します。次の図で具体的なデザイン・リサーチフィールドを示しています。
The above "Interior Design 1.0" is sufficient enough for former undergraduate education. Nevertheless you actually try to create your own interior works or design architectural projects and lighting fixtures, you will have to challenge "Interior Design 2.0," which is tacit knowledge beyond what is written in the textbooks.
This academic stage cannot be learned by "anyone". To challenge it, we think that we need a "secret base" environment, so to speak, where we can learn through trial and error on a daily basis. Therefore, we open our laboratory as a "platform of knowledge" for our members to practice anything at anytime.
The next step is "Interior Design 3.0." This is the stage where students present their work and research to the public and apply and develop it to actual projects. These projects require considerable perseverance and practical skills. The following diagram shows specific fields of design and research.
本研究室への配属・進学希望の方へ
また建築デザインの専門職に就きたいと考えているならば、6年一貫教育、つまり大学院での学びと研究を経ることをキャリアプランに組み込むことを強く推奨します。デザインとは、問題があって答えがあるというような問題解決型職能ではなく、単純なプロセスだけでは片付けられない、時間・空間・人間を相手にする、いわば「包括職能」です。そしてデザイン行為とは、社会や身の回りで起こっている問題・課題を鮮やかに切り取る目を持ち、様々な立場に立ってその課題に向き合い、意匠・合理性・経済性・バランス感覚に長けた、皆が真似したくなるようなモデルを示す能力です。学部4年間だけでなく、その先にある大学院2年間は、何にも束縛されず、好きな事にどれだけでも専念できる貴重な時間なのです。人と違う生き方、人に使われたくない生き方、自分の好きなことを仕事にできる生き方を目指すなら、このインテリア・デザイン3.0しかありません。デザインは非常に楽しい学問です。是非我々の研究室に来てください。また社会人ドクターの受け入れも推めており、在籍学生数も増えています。詳しくは下記のリンク先に本研究室への入学・進学希望に関するFAQを載せていますので御覧ください。
